Having come from a family with a rich history in the legal profession, it seemed only natural when Mr. Collier H. Espy, Jr. began practicing law in 1976. After making a name for himself, it wasn’t long before Mr. Espy was looking to strike out on his own and launch a practice whose main focus was bankruptcy. His new firm would be one of the very first in the Wiregrass to practice bankruptcy, solely.
Shortly thereafter, Collier would find himself needing to bring on a new partner to help handle the growing caseload. It was a hard-working young man by the name of Cameron Metcalf that caught his attention. At the time, Cam was working full time and driving 200 miles a day to complete his law degree in Tallahassee. It was Cam’s work ethic, commitment, determination, and his “love for the numbers” that made him the perfect fit for a growing bankruptcy practice.
The two men began building the practice, and more importantly, building a reputation for taking on the most complex cases – cases other local bankruptcy firms shy away from.
Fast forward a few years, when a young lawyer named Kaz Espy joined the firm. Seeking to follow in his father’s footsteps and help the people of this community, he began practicing law at the firm now known as Espy, Metcalf & Espy. The three men worked together tirelessly to help those struggling with debt here in the Wiregrass.
While all three men have unique skills and backgrounds to offer their clients, they all share the goal of helping people when they need it most.
